Looks like we're gonna have an American F1 team with at least one American F1 driver!

no idea how you equate that to him running for Haas Formula. If he was going to Haas he'd continue to compete in GP2 this year and next year as Haas won't be in F1 until 2016 and now Rossi has nothing to race for almost 2 years if he's going to Haas...

Caterham is a rapidly sinking ship . He's probably getting out while he still can.

The reason I equated it with Haas is because he notes the opportunity to grow the sport within the U.S. I would say that strongly points towards his involvement with a U.S. based F1 team.

Admittedly, the timing does seem early. But perhaps he is going to be more involved with the building of the team and development of the car, so he will be taking the time to focus on that.

I will believe either one of these statements when I see it actually happen.

Haas Formula isn't going to hire someone who has never developed a F1 car to get in at the ground floor to engineer the car. At least I don't think he would. That would seem like a stupid idea.

Well, perhaps the help with developing the car was a stretch. As is sort of my whole premise, but given the statements about growing the sport in the U.S. and setting his goals on F1 it seems (IMO) to be a strong indication that he will be working towards being a driver for an American team.

I agree, but given that Conor Daly is still racing in GP2 I'd now put him as the favorite for Haas Formula. One thing is certain in the world of racing. When you're not racing you're VERY quickly forgotten.

He could be involved with their testing program? Maybe he's going to road race for them for a year? It is weird to announce his parting ways with the team without also announcing his intention to drive for Haas but you never know.

What do you mean road race for them? Haas has no road racing anywhere.

We should also note, that it doesn't say he is completely leaving GP2 though. Simply that he is leaving Caterham. Guess we will just have to wait and see what he announces next.

Yeah somehow got them crossed with letterman-rahal in my head, thought they had an ALMS arm or something.

http://www.alexanderrossi.com/news/287/ Looks like he's going to be racing with Campos, at least for this weekend. So definitely not done racing GP2.

That's interesting indeed.

I'm thinking he also knows how quickly he'd be forgotten if he doesn't race this season/next, so he's likely making something work to continue racing but with the end goal of leaving for F1 in 2016 to join Haas. At least that's what I'm hoping, but there's still a lot of information missing to make that sort of leap.
